3 Clergy Perform 7 Same Sex Weddings
On Sunday, April 3, Nancy Allison will not be in the pulpit at Holy Covenant United Church of Christ. She and two other Charlotte Clergy, the Rabbi Judy Schindler of Temple Beth El and the Rev. Robin Tanner of the Unitarian Universalist Church will be performing a historic ceremony in Washington, D. C.
In our nation’s capitol it is legal to marry same sex couples, and we at Holy Covenant are glad that our pastor is one of three clergy performing a total of 7 same sex weddings on this date. Lynn Helms and Laura Murphy, members of Holy Covenant, have been partners for 9 years. Finally they will have the wedding they have long desired.

7 Weddings Unite Same Sex Couples
On Monday, April 4, Holy Covenant hosted a champagne (sparkling juice) toast for the 7 couples who traveled to Washington to be married. Rabbi Judy Schindler and Rev. Robin Tanner who also participated in the 7 weddings joined Rev. Nancy Allison as the media snapped pictures and interviewed some of the participants.
