			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Lent is the 40 days (excluding Sundays!) from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday.  The focus on denial and fasting is related to the forty days of fasting Jesus experienced following his baptism and prior to his public ministry.  It was a spiritually transformative time for him.  Our constant challenge as Christians is <span id="more-1916"></span>opening our lives to the presence of God.  Beginning a new spiritual practice during the season of Lent can be a way of creating a centered space in your life.</p>

<p>Holy Covenant will offer a variety of experiences to support you in opening your life to God.  Please note offerings we will have available and join in as you are able.</p>

<p>Steven Burleson, who in addition to being our youth pastor, is studying for a certificate in spiritual direction will lead these three sessions. Come as you are able.</p>
<p><strong>Spirituality as Soul-Rest (March 5<sup>th</sup>) </strong>Exploring how rest, relaxation, and quiet meditation can aid us in our spiritual journeys.</p>
<p><strong>Lectio Divina and Creativity (March 19<sup>th</sup>) </strong>Engaging<strong> </strong>Scripture through Lectio (reading), Meditatio (meditation), Oratio (prayer), and Contemplatio (Contemplation), followed by creative expression, bring your journal, musical instrument or drawing pad.</p>

<p>A focus on the benefits of contemplative tools (labyrinths, prayer beads, icons, etc) and time to envision creating sacred spaces in our homes and lives.</p>
