Holy Covenant will offer a variety of experiences to support you in opening your life to God.  Please note offerings we will have available and join in as you are able.

 

2012 Lenten Disciplines

 

The Way of Forgiveness (using the Companions in Christ resource)

These small groups will explore Christ’s call to live a forgiven and forgiving life.  Attendance for all sessions strongly encouraged.  Bring your Bible and a journal.

Contemplative Mondays                   March 5, 19 & 26, 6:30 p.m., Sharon campus

Steven Burleson, who in addition to being our youth pastor, is studying for a certificate in spiritual direction will lead these three sessions. Come as you are able.

Spirituality as Soul-Rest (March 5th) Exploring how rest, relaxation, and quiet meditation can aid us in our spiritual journeys.

Lectio Divina and Creativity (March 19th) Engaging Scripture through Lectio (reading), Meditatio (meditation), Oratio (prayer), and Contemplatio (Contemplation), followed by creative expression, bring your journal, musical instrument or drawing pad.

Mindfulness in the Modern World: Creating Sacred Spaces in the Everyday (March 26th)

A focus on the benefits of contemplative tools (labyrinths, prayer beads, icons, etc) and time to envision creating sacred spaces in our homes and lives.

Beginners Yoga   Wednesdays, February 29 – March 28,6:00 p.m., Harris campus Sign me up!

An opportunity for novices to begin to practice mindfulness through yoga exercises.  No experience required.  Bring a mat or a towel.  Leah Burleson, a trained instructor will lead our sessions.

 

Prayer as Meditation            Thursdays, March 1- March 29, 5:45 pm., Harris (Join with a group who is learning to still the racing voices in their heads and practicing the art of awareness as a way of listening for the voice of God.

 

Intercessory Prayer               Sundays, February 26 – March 25, 12:15, Harris campus

If you seek prayers for yourself or others or are willing to offer prayers on behalf of others, join this group who will meet for 30 minutes following worship each Sunday.  Come as you are able.

 

Prayer and Fasting

Changing our habits and fasting from a meal once a week (lunch each Thursday?) allows individuals to use the time which would have been devoted to eating to instead devote it to prayer and meditation.
