In the United Church of Christ, churches are individually governed — we remain in covenant with regional and national leadership, but make our own decisions about pastoral leadership, relationships in our community and beyond, participation in denominational initiatives, even theology. An elected Consistory serves as Holy Covenant’s board of directors to manage most operational matters, but major decisions are taken only after congregational meetings where each member enjoys a vote.
