First, welcome! We’re glad you’re thinking about visiting Holy Covenant, and hope we’ll soon have an opportunity to greet you in person. Because we want to make your first visit a comfortable one, we offer a bit of useful information here — but please call us at 704-599-9810 or email us if you have other questions.
Holy Covenant is a body of ONE CONGREGATION which worships on TWO CAMPUSES. Our Harris Campus is located in northeast Charlotte on WT Harris Boulevard, mid-way between I-77 and I-85 — about three miles from either interstate. Click here for a Google map of this location, or enter these coordinates into your GPS: 35.3330 N, 80.7904 W.
Our Sharon Campus is located near SouthPark Mall, at 6151 Sharon Road a quarter mile west of the Harris YMCA. Click here for a Google map and specific driving directions from your home to this location.
We gather for one worship service every Sunday morning, with additional services for special occasions like the the holy seasons of Christmas and Easter. Here’s our regular schedule —
9:45am Christian Education (Sunday School) for all ages
12:00pm Refreshments & Social Hour
Our Harris campus sits back from WT Harris Boulevard, so once you’ve turned into our drive, you’ll soon reach a fork in the road. Bear right and the first entrance you see off the parking lot is what we consider our primary entrance — complete with visitor parking spaces! Enter here and you’ll immediately find yourself in our large Gathering Room where someone will be standing by to greet you. If you need to drive on around the building to find parking, you’ll find another entrance at the back of our building which will bring you down a short hallway into the Gathering Room. Handicapped parking spaces are available at either entry.
At our Sharon campus Parking spaces are not marked in the blue stone parking lot, so feel free to park anywhere that would not impede the coming and going of others. You may notice people gathered at the house behind the church. That’s Serenity House — a meeting place for AA programs and an example of our call to serve the community.
We’re always pleased to welcome visitors, regardless of what they’re wearing. While most of our members dress in business casual for regular services, you’ll find everything from blue jeans to dresses & suits. Most children and teens dress as they do for school.
In addition to our parking spaces, we have made sure our building and restrooms are all accessible, and service animals are welcome at Holy Covenant. As you enter the sanctuary, you will also find large-print bulletins and audio amplification devices. If you have special needs, please contact us so that we may make your visit as comfortable as possible.
We love kids, and you’ll see quite a few at Holy Covenant — from infants through school age. We offer a staffed nursery for babies and toddlers during Sunday School and worship, along with programs for children and youth during the Sunday School hour. Children who attend Sunday School are invited to join their parents for the opening of worship. After the Children’s Time in the service, kids age 8 and under are escorted to a special program from which they may be collected after worship ends. Of course, children are always welcome to remain with their parents during the entire worship service.
Our service tends toward the traditional, with generally upbeat music, lively preaching, and even more contemporary elements offered on a regular basis. We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of every month, where you’re invited to come forward, accept a small piece of bread or a communion wafer, and dip the bread into the cup (of grape juice). At Holy Covenant, all are welcome at Christ’s table, and if you are unable to come forward, we’ll bring the elements to you.
The Offering Plate
Toward the end of the service, ushers will pass an offering plate down your row to provide members an opportunity to offer their gifts. While you are welcome to make an offering, please feel free to simply pass the plate along to the person next to you.
When you are greeted before entering the sanctuary, you may be invited to sign our guest register. Then during the early part of the service, a small folder will pass along the row to permit members and guests to register their presence. While you are under no obligation to provide your details, we would appreciate the opportunity to formally register your presence with us and thank you for visiting.
If you have additional or different questions, feel free to contact us! We look forward to seeing you soon.
